I just got back from a trip to the White Mountains in New Hampshire (visited on 9/30-10/2). The trees are about 40% color right now with reds and orange being dominant colors. Anyone who is going to New Hampshire after this weekend (weekend of October 7th) will probably hit the peak.
Foliage in New Hampshire
Darlene, Where were you when you found the 40% color? We were in Conway this weekend (10/1-10/2) and found it pretty green. We%26#39;re planning to return around the 15th, hoping for more color. It%26#39;s just been too darn hot.

I was thinking the same thing. Where was she, in Dixville???
Just dug up this foliage report from the state of NH:
10/3/2005
The White Mountain Region is now beginning to show a change in color. The higher elevations through the Franconia and Kinsman notches are showcasing yellows as is the west end of the Kancamagus Highway. You’ll find color beginning to mix with the green foliage throughout the higher elevations of the Waterville Valley area, while the Conway area is still predominantly green. Some prefer the green foliage blending with the yellows and the reds as it produces its familiar “fireworks” effect.
Hello All,
Today 10/5/2005 color around Route 2 in Randolph is about 80%, color should be peaking around here for the Holiday Weekend.
We drove through Kancamagus Highway and all around the mountain through a route that was provided to us by the hotel we stayed in. We saw a lot of reds in the mountains in North Conway area. I%26#39;m glad we went when we did, however, because this weekend (October 8-9) looks to be a washout with all the rain.
Yes to me, I think the foliage is really disappointing this year! When we had that really dry, hot summer and then no rain for so long? That%26#39;s what did it to things around here. Usually this time of year, even living on the Seacoast? By now we wouldn%26#39;t have to go that far; all we%26#39;d have to do is look outside and see stunning foliage, well NOT this year, it%26#39;s washed up or not around at all, if it is? It%26#39;s on trees in spurts, it%26#39;s not as brilliant as years gone by and the way it usually is. Unless by next week it all of a sudden changes, but I really doubt it, even the really pretty tree on the corner of our road that the Japanese people love to stop and take pictures of! I kid you not, bus loads of people will stop, get out and take pictures of this brilliant colored tree every year, well NOT this year! The leaves are gone on it already and it%26#39;s so early! Oh well guys there%26#39;s always next year!
Cheers!
