My wife and I are coming in to Burlington from Montreal ( via Amtrak-Ferry) on Sunday July 2nd mid afternoon.
Then either leaving Burlington on the 3rd and driving east towards Maine or staying another day in Burlington then to Portland, ME.
We were thinking about driving about halfway to Portland on the 3rd and just take our time stopping at Antique stores etc...
Any Suggestions on where to go/stay about half way to Portland Maine. Thinking about a small quant town with a nice dinner spot.
Thank You in advance
Small towns from Burlinghton to Portland??
Might want to Google Jackson, NH. Lots of nice Inns and a picture book village.
Going West to East in Northern NE is not easy as most all direct routes go North/South, E/W routes are quite zig zag however the good thing with that is it zigs into one small town and zags into another. My best suggestion is check a map and zig zag your way across and you%26#39;ll find one nice village after another. Just see what tickles your fancy. No reservations generally needed if you have a little aventure and choose a place by 5-6pm. That%26#39;s the best way, you%26#39;ll have a ball!

By The Way:
If you are into flyfishing Manchester, VT ,south of Burlington on Rt 7 is HQ for Orvis and I believe they have a flyfishing museum) and Freeport, ME south of Portland is HQ for LL Bean and I think they run a flyfishing school.
