Take a look at Loon Mountain Inn http://www.loonmtn.com/winter/index.asp It%26#39;ll out you right in the heart of the White Mountains. I haven%26#39;t stayed there in a couple of years we always loved it.

You might want to check out the North Conway Grand Hotel. My family (husband and 2 kids, ages 6 and 8) stayed there last summer and we were very pleased. The rooms were neat and clean, staff was friendly, nice pool, huge complimentary breakfast buffet. There%26#39;s also outlet shopping right on the premises. It%26#39;s conveniently located to all the major attrations in the area. We would definitely stay there again.

If you are looking for a relaxing spot, try Pittsburg, NH Its a long ride but there are some nice cabins on the lakes there and believe it or not some good restaurants. Try looking under northcountrychamber.org lodging and you%26#39;ll see the various places in Pittsburg. Also, in the Lakes Region there are lots of cottages on the lake.

You might want to check out the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield, NH. It%26#39;s a renovated, historic ';grand hotel'; with amazing views, a really nice spa, and lots of charm. If you%26#39;d consider something not quite in the White Mountains, but within an easy drive, check out Meredith, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee. Cute small town on the lake, some great inns to choose from and some decent dining to boot.

Bretton Woods is a lovely huge turn-of-the century hotel in the old style. There is a smaller, cheaper motel across from the entrance driveway and you used to have access to the same amenities: golf, swimming pool, dining rooms, carriage roads, etc. It is in a stunning location. Swimming in the pool with such mountain views is awesome.

The only drawback is that if you don%26#39;t want to eat at the hotel, it is a long drive to any other alternative restaurants.

Bretton Woods also has great history: the site of at least one important international conference.

Definately check out Purity Spring Resort. Its about 10 miles south of North Conway. Everything is included and its relatively inexpensive. We just stayed there for a couple of days over winter vacation and I cant wait to go back for summer. We rented the brookside condo which was actually a house. The staff was great with the kids. Food was delicious. I had a massage which was the best ever.
