I%26#39;ve been searching the Internet for retailers in the NH area that deal in Celtic or Irish folk instruments. Specifically, I want to try out several different types of bodhrans (made in the US, Ireland, or elsewhere in Europe) and then purchase one. I am hoping to find something in NH, as I have had no success here in Vermont.
A bodhran is a hand-held Irish drum of goat skin stretched on a wooden frame. It is played with a wooden tipper, which is sometimes referred to as a beater or cipin. There are a variety of US-made, Irish-made and European-made bodhrans, so it is important that I have an opportunity to try out a few different types before making my decision. This is why I would rather shop in person through a retailer than order a drum sight-unseen online. (I%26#39;ve received suggestions on other websites to order directly from Europe.)
If anyone can offer information about Celtic folk instrument dealers in the NH area, I would very much appreciate your assistance. Thank you! :-)

Give Joan O%26#39;Donnell a call at 603 926-2733, she owns the O%26#39;Donnell Irish Import Shop in Hampton, NH and if you don%26#39;t speak to her, her daughter could be in the shop and either one of them would possibly be able to assist you in locating what you%26#39;re looking for. They don%26#39;t have instruments there as they basically have sweaters, jewelry, china and pictures etc... but where they%26#39;re in the retail business and go to quite a lot of Irish Festivals, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get steered in the right direction for what you%26#39;re actually looking for!
Good Luck!

If this isn%26#39;t too far afield, Song of the Sea in Bar Harbor, Maine sells bodhrans. Their number is 207-288-5653. I had mine made in Ireland and sent over, and it is a beautiful instrument (I got it about 10 years ago), but I can understand wanting to see and play yours before you get it.
Slainte!
