One day in New Hampshire

Next week we are traveling to the East Coast. We are actually staying in Andover, MA and plan on spending most of the time in Boston, but will spend some time in Salem, NH (for family) - which is why we are staying where we are. We decided to spend one day - Sunday I am pretty sure, exploring NH.

Any special place we should try?

Again, we are staying in Andover MA and will have a car.

No small children, my husband, myself and our teenage boys.

One day in New Hampshire

Lucki,

I would suggest shooting straight up I-93. You can be in the White Mountains in 90 mins or so, unless its a Friday Night. There is plenty of hiking, bike riding, and kayaking to squeeze into one day.

Some websites to try:

www.bikeandski.net

www.lincolnwoodstock.com

www.summersafari.com

Not sure what types of things you are looking to do, but those are my suggestions.

One day in New Hampshire

Hi Lucki4,

Definitely shoot up Rte 93 to the White Mountains if you get the chance, that would be a great way to see it. Check out this site:

www.nhliving.com

Click on Activities under each region and you%26#39;ll see different things to do. Another site that%26#39;s really helpful is this:

www.explorenewengland.com

Just click on New Hampshire and activities or events and it%26#39;ll show you what%26#39;s going on in each region, it%26#39;s very helpful and affiliated with the Boston Globe so it%26#39;s used by all of us that live here too!

From Andover, MA it%26#39;s a breeze to get right to NH, you%26#39;re not even 20 minutes from the Rockingham Park Mall in Salem, NH, which is quite a neat Mall that your boys will really like; while you%26#39;re visiting family in town.

Have a great time!

I agree just shoot up Rt 93. If it were me I would head to MT Washington at Bretton Woods and head to the Cog Railway.

www.thecog.com

Another suggestion would be to drive the Kancamangus Hwy (35 miles) from Woodstock, NH on RT 93 to RT 16 just south of North Conway. Then try to bypass No Conway and head a few miles N to Jackson, NH a real old time NH town that%26#39;s very pretty. There%26#39;s nothing wrong with No Conway except that it%26#39;s an mega outlet area. If you want to shop you will love it. It you don%26#39;t want to shop you will not like it.

It would be a long day buy what the heck you came all the way from Wisconsin!

Check out http://www.visitwhitemountains.com/ as a source of information about what%26#39;s up in the White Mountains....all the major, must see, must do attractions are listed here. My personal favorites are The Flume, Cannon Mt. Tramway, and Lost River Gorge. The teens will have a great time at Whale%26#39;s Tale Water Park, and the best for everyone in the family is Clark%26#39;s Trading Post - must see bear show.

Places to stay - numerous in Lincoln but it%26#39;s a mini-North Conway with traffic and crowds...north of the Notch in Franconia, more mellow and laid back, small village - what NH is all about.

Recommend the Gale River Motel as a great place to stay http://www.galerivermotel.com or http://www.stonybrookmotel.com.

Thanks for the info.

I checked out those websites and it looks like the White Mountains will be a great place to spend the day
