any idea for a 4th Jul family getaway ?

we would really like to get away to a lake or somewhere near the water if we can for the week beginning 1st July. I was thinking of Portsmouth coz of the children%26#39;s museum and Prescott Park. I am pretty sure my kid will enjoy the Discovery Center as well.

Any suggestions or ideas ? Also, places to stay would be great, thanks !

Portsmouth is a great pick. there%26#39;s a lot to do in a small city. A couple or few days would do you well. Plays at night at prescott, shoping during the day. Also rye beaches are nice. Although kids might get more of a kick of Hampton Beach. although don%26#39;t suggest it for nighttime. The hotels in downtown portsmouth are expensive. but the traffic circle is not far at all. and there are 5 or six motels to pick. checkout the music hall too...but durring the summer there is so much life in the city. jsut being there is great. remember it%26#39;s not a big palce. 2 to 3 days is a perfect time. The Rosa and Pocos are not good eating places. any other resturant are fantasic. and for pizza, Savarios, not Joes.

we will be driving up from CT so making use of the full weekend till 5th Jul, will that will too long of a trip ?

This will be easy from CT. Where in CT will you be?
