Great Restaurant Downtown Portsmouth !
Good morning Rollie,
The latest hit in Portsmouth these days that I know of is the Dunaway Restaurant located at 66 Marcy St. right across from Prescott Park. The chef is Mary Dumont and in just a few months ago she won the title of one of the Best New Chefs for 2006 in Food %26amp; Wine Magazine. This is quite an honor because it never happened that a chef from New Hampshire won that title. It%26#39;s one of the ';hot'; restaurants up there these days. You should see if you can get reservations, although with your son being 16 and picky, you better check the menu out good to see if he sees anything that he%26#39;d like before you get there:

Another really good restaurant in Portsmouth? It%26#39;s an Italian restaurant that is just out of this world. It%26#39;s a little pricey but the cuisine and atmosphere is quite nice. It%26#39;s located at 59 Penhallow St. in Portsmouth, called Anthony Albertos, again check the menu out to see the many choices for your son:

The last one I%26#39;m going to recommend to you is the Library Restaurant. It%26#39;s always been very good in my book, it%26#39;s reasonably priced and it%26#39;s always been consistant as far as the cuisine is concerned, and if anything it%26#39;s even a little better than it ever was these days. This restaurant is located at 401 State St. in Portsmouth, you%26#39;ll really like the atmosphere here I think, it%26#39;s rustic and old New England:

Good Luck deciding and check back from time to time, there%26#39;s probably going to be other choices as well and have a great time, that%26#39;s the most important thing!

Hi Rollie.....All of the above suggestions are great! If your son is a ';plain eater'; he may not like the Dunaway though...
Does he like Italian? Rosa%26#39;a restaurant on State St. serves up traditional Italian fare in a homey atmosphere.

If you like a view with your seafood (they serve burgers and chicken as well for the teenager) The Old Ferry Landing on Ceres St is fab!
No web site, but it%26#39;s in the Bow St Row of deck restaurants across from the tugboats.
Also very good for seafood is Jumping Jay%26#39;s Fish Cafe on Congress St.

Mangia!!!!
Oops! I forgot one of the local favorites! The Blue Mermaid. They serve up carribean tinged cuisine and they have a fun atmosphere! Rachel Ray just visited there for her traveling show on the Food Network!

A very teen friendly place is the Muddy River Smokehouse. Cool atmosphere, great food, but ';plain stuff'; also. I LOVE the Blue Mermaid and Jumpin%26#39; Jay%26#39;s, but I wouldn%26#39;t dream of bringing a picky eater there.
