Week trip to NH, need helo, please

Hi, I am new to this board and hoping someone can give me some guidance

We are traveling to NH in July for a wedding and have plans to stay in Nashua from Thursday to Sunday. We want to explore some of the area so we are heading north either the Sat. or Sun. before.

I would love a coastal town, we have 2 kids (2 and 4) and love seafood! I also wanted to take a day trip to Boston and a few other places.

So where should I make my home base for 4 or 5 nights? Can you recommend a town and a hotel?

We are looking for some place with activity....boardwalks, etc. We are in FL and I know the beaches are totally different up there.

Thanks....

Hi,

Reading your post I might suggest Portsmouth, NH down Rt. 1A to North Hampton, NH as a coastal area to explore. There is a big beach just barely south called Hampton Beach. It’s extremely child oriented but the child it’s oriented towards is a teenager. A better suggestion might be Wallis Sands State Park/Beach. It’s smaller, quieted and I think a place you’ll be happier with having small children. There is also Rye State Park as well as Ordione Point along that stretch. Info should be able to be found on these at the following web sites:

www.nhparks.state.nh.us

www.hamptonbeach.com/

As for places to stay along the route there a several however hopefully another poster can suggest as that area I a day trip for me so I have not stayed t any of those in the area.

While there you can also see a lot of history in Portsmouth going back to Revolutionary War times. Look into Strawberry Banke which is a Williamsburg type area.

Anywhere along that stretch will give you great seafood. One in particular that I like is Capt’n Jim’s (I believe). It right on the dogleg in Rt. 1A and across from the Ocean.

If time permits do try to get to NH’s White Mountain’s, especially the Mount Washington Valley. It could be done as a day trip from Portsmouth or could be a trip unto itself.

While in Nashua a few restaurants I might suggest are Surf for seafood, Villa Banca for Italian, Michael Timothy’s for upscale dining. These are all on Main Street in downtown and all are locally popular.

Portsmouth, NH is ideal for so many days. It%26#39;s got a lot to see right in the area. You%26#39;d have plenty of beaches to go to with your children. New Hampshire has 17 miles of shoreline, from Hampton Beach up through Rye Beach. You could also very easily head over to Maine and be in York, Ogunquit or Kennebunkport in NO time from Portsmouth, which is a plus. The Kittery Outlet Mall is very close by as well:

In Portsmouth the Sheraton Hotel is ideal and has some good rates these days! I was going to recommend this great B%26amp;B called the Bow Street Inn but when I checked there site they only want children OVER 5. How rude is that?! I was so mad when I saw it! Oh well, what are you going to do with these people! I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy the Sheraton Hotel JUST fine! There%26#39;s also the Wren%26#39;s Nest Inn in Portsmouth which caters to every type of family that you could check out, it%26#39;s also got good rates for a suite type room for your family:

www.wrensnestinn.com

This Wrens Nest is ideal for families wanting to be on the beaches on the Seacoast! You%26#39;d be close to SO many activities and attractions this way. It%26#39;s located a long Rte 1 and it%26#39;s SO easy to get in to the Town of Portsmouth from here as well as to get over to Hampton Beach or Wallis Sands Beach up at Rye Beach. The drive along the NH coast is spectacular, you%26#39;ll be surprised to see it as it%26#39;s quite a lot like Newport, RI, believe it or not, you%26#39;ll really like this scenic drive, take your time going around those curves!

If you are wondering where to stay in the Nashua area for the wedding you%26#39;ll be attending? See if you can get reservations at the Stonehedge Inn! It%26#39;s SO beautiful there and it%26#39;s NOT far from Nashua at all. I%26#39;ve been there before and couldn%26#39;t believe how close it was. You can view the Inn here to see it:

www.stonehedgeinn.com

Enjoy your visit to New England! You could also check this site, it%26#39;s affiliated with the Boston Globe and it%26#39;s got updated attractions and events on it all the time. Things going on all around New England, it%26#39;s a great site to utilize before your upcoming trip to see what%26#39;s going on in the different parts of New England:

www.explorenewengland.com

HAVE A GREAT TIME!

The Stonehedge Inn is really very nice. It%26#39;s south and just across the MA line into Tyngsboro, MA. I%26#39;ve had lunch there and it%26#39;s really special but my guess is that to stay there is pricy as well.

My guess is that in Nashua you are probably staying at the Crown Plaza, Sheraton Tara or Marriott Courtyard. All are nice but the Marriott was recently redone. None of these will let you down.
