Need ideas for romantic anniversary day trip

Hey folks,

I live in Southern NH and my husband %26amp; I are celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary on July 5th. We%26#39;d like to stay in the New England area (VT, NH or Maine), and do something romantic like a sightseeing cruise, or tour of seacoast towns. The thing is, I%26#39;m pregnant, and the activities have to suitable for someone who%26#39;s 5-6 months along. :) Any ideas or suggestions?

Need ideas for romantic anniversary day trip

Camden, ME is 80-90 miles N of Portland. From there you can do 2-3 hour day sails on a sloop or three masted schooner sail boat that can%26#39;t be beat. Plus there are nice little shops and restaurants. They also they have MANY B%26amp;Bs that could be very oo-la-la for a romantic weekend. There%26#39;s lot%26#39;s of good info on tripadvisor.com. Look up Camden and check it ou!!!!

Camden is actually a great idea if the car ride doesn%26#39;t drive you crazy. It%26#39;s compact so there isn%26#39;t a whole lot of walking, and parking%26#39;s not as difficult as in some other popular Maine tourist towns.

If you don%26#39;t want to drive as far as Camden, consider Portland. More walking to do, but still a cool town. If you go to Portland there are several nice day spas and you might treat yourself to a pedicure, massage, etc., nice restaurants, take a boat ride. go to a lighthouse, visit the beach.

Re: cruise of seacoast towns, there is an article in the current Coastal Living about a cruise that visits several small Maine ports. Only potential drawback is that it goes out of Bangor, so you%26#39;d have to drive a bit to get catch the boat.

Would you consider taking a boat to Isle au Haut and spending the night in a lightouse? http://www.keepershouse.com might be very romantic IF you can arrange for special transportation so you don%26#39;t have to walk.

Have you considered Portsmouth. Not too far to travel. If you feel like walking you could visit Strawberry Bank, the way Portsmouth was at the turn of the century. There is Propect Park for a stroll, pretty gardens, on the river. Portsmouth has many fine restaurants to choose from. And, if you want to take a cruise, take the trip to the Isle of Shoals. You get a narrated trip down the river, the boat stops at Star Island where you can get off and look around for about an hour and then returns back to Portsmouth. If you have not been out to the Isles of Shoals, it is worth the trip. Enjoy and happy anniversary!

It%26#39;s not on the ocean, but Burlington, VT is on Lake Champlain. You can take a boat ride on the Spirit of Ethan Allen. Church Street is fantastic to stroll - great shops, restaurants, and people watching!

Thanks for all the suggestions to everyone! I%26#39;ll have to look into all of them. It%26#39;s been helpful.
