Hi Everyone,
I am will be in Stowe, Vermont Nov7-14. I would appreciate information on a day trip to New Hampshire, what is the closet town in New Hampshire to travel to, what is there to do there. Also, how far in Maine from Stowe. Thank you in advance for your response. Marlene
Travel to New England
From Stowe you could easily do a day trip to the Littleton/Franconia Notch area.
From Stowe, take 100 north to 15 east to Route 2 east to St. Johnsbury, VT. In St. Johnsbury, hop on I-91 south for about a mile, then take I-93 south all the way through Franconia Notch. OR, if you prefer to stay off the interstate, take keep following Route 2 through St. J and then take Route 18 (south or east...not sure how its marked) to Lttleton. Then get on I93 south to Franconia Notch.
Maine unfortunately would be a little too far for a day trip IMO.
Travel to New England
Hello,
We are also from Oregon taking a two week trip to New England in the Fall. We considered a day trip to Montreal, about two hours drive time. Also a day trip to Woodstock VT., North Conway, NH and Williamstown MA. If you can get away for a two night stay go to Bar Harbor Maine. Where are you staying in Stowe?
Thank you for your advice. I am staying at the Trapp Family Lodge. A big fan of the Sound of Music. Where are you staying. Where do you live in Oregon. I live in Eugene. Marlene
Here%26#39;s the website to the St. Gaudens Historic Site in Cornish, NH... just over the border from VT, about 12 miles south of White River Junction.

Hello Marn8,
We live in Beaverton, how long have you lived in Eugene?
Have you been able to put together your vacation plans? After our visit to Stowe I could email you more info if you would like, let me know.
Julie
Hi Julia, Thanks for writing. I have lived in Eugene since June of 2000. Previously I have lived in Ok., and AK. My plans are pretty well set. I will spend the entire week at the Trapp Lodge and travel from there. I need to see all the New England states to make my 50 state quota, ha. I plan on coming back to get Conn. and RI. Would like to get to Main if possible. I would give you my email addy, not sure on this site, what do you think? It would be nice to get to know a fellow traveler. Any info would be great, Thanks Marlene
Hi Marlene,
Staying at the Trapp Lodge for a week sounds wonderful. From the research I have done there is plenty to see and do in beautiful Vermont and nearby NH. We leave in two weeks and upon returning home I will check into this forum to let everyone know how we did.
