My wife and I are renting a car at the Manchester NH airport and travelling to Jackson for 3 days in mid August. We%26#39;ll probably want to stop along the way to stretch and grab a late lunch or early dinner. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. How long will the trip take?

The Common Man restaurants are execelent, there is one in Ashland NH which is open for both lunch and dinner about one hour from Manchester (At exit 24 off 1-93... Head south on Route 3 about a 1/2 mile into Ashland... It%26#39;s on Main Street, right in the center of town.) Or there is one about a 1/2 hour farther up in Lincoln on Rte 112 (Exit 32 the Kangamagus Highway) but this location does not open until 5:00 for dinner.

The most direct route from manchester to Jackson is I93 to Exit 32 (Rt. 112 Kangamagus Highway), to Bear Notch Road (about 24 miles on the left). Follow Bear Notch Road into Bartlett NH. Turn right at the blinking light onto Route 302. Follow 302 to the traffic light in Glen NH (there will be a Dairy Queen just ahead of you to your right and the Storybook Inn to your left) take a left at the traffic light onto 16 north.

Your total driving time from the airport to Jackson should be about 2 1/2 hrs.
