My family and I will be spending a long weekend skiing in N.H. We need a two bedroom condo, and I%26#39;ve found two available for the weekend we%26#39;re going. One is a unit in the Nordic Inn - a litle more money but has a gas fireplace. The other unit is in Rivergreen Resort - less money, no fireplace, but looks fairly new and has jacuzzi tubs in room. Is anyone familiar with these two places? We need help deciding which one to take!
Nordic Inn or Rivergreen Resort?
Hi MegGG,
The Nordic Inn in Lincoln is rated #1 and the reviews on it are unbelievably all great right here on TA. I would definitely go with there advice if i were you. It%26#39;s always been extremely reliable, especially when you see that many people that really loved staying there. So it sounds like a plan for you and your family.
The Rivergreen Condos evidently doesn%26#39;t have a bar or a restaurant, according to the review on TA. I think if the Nordic Inn is a little more money? There%26#39;s a reason for that, it certainly appears to be the case! You absolutely will want a ';gas fireplace.'; Especially if you%26#39;re going to be skiing all weekend long, I think you should probably think about staying at the Nordic Inn.
You might possibly see conflicting opinions on this with the ';Rivergreen Condos'; as opposed to the Nordic Inn? If you do? Just keep your eyes and ears open to it, that%26#39;s all.
Have a great time skiing, that%26#39;s the most important thing for your upcoming weekend, hopefully we get MORE snow for you guys that love that powder!
Nordic Inn or Rivergreen Resort?
I%26#39;ve stayed at the Rivergreen Resort condo/hotel a couple of times several years ago. It%26#39;s nice; not great. The furnishings certainly won%26#39;t WOW you. But I got a great deal on a 2 story suite, Copper master with queen bedroom upstairs, 2-person jacuzzi upstairs, both with beautiful views of Coolidge Mtns across the way, and kitchen/LR with pull-out sofa/balcony downstairs. It also came with access to in/out swimming pools and outside spa at the Mill at Loon property next door.
I don%26#39;t know what the status of these properties are, along with the Lodge at Lincoln Station. All three were formerly related, each with websites. Now, I can only find the lodge at Lincoln Station website, and it%26#39;s much less informative than it used to be. The Rivergreen Resort site I booked thru previously had layouts of all the different room types.
Meg..You may want to check out a site for Loon Reservations. There are many condos in the area and lots of rentals available from studios to 4 or 5 BR. Deer Park offers indoor pool, jacuzzi, racquetball and ice skating rink with great views of the mountains. I don%26#39;t know what is available for the weekend you are going or your price range, but there%26#39;s plenty to pick from. Here%26#39;s the link, http://www.loonres.com/ Have fun.
Thanks all. Your input so far has been extremely helpful. Deer Park did look really nice, but for Presidents%26#39; weekend the rates are prohibitive at the more luxurious condos. Rivergreen does not have many photos on their website, so a first-hand report was nice to hear. There are not enough reviews on T.A. on this place to form much of an opinion. So far it looks like Nordic Inn, unless I can find a good price at a nicer condo complex. But we still need SNOW!!!!
Meg,
We stayed at the Nordic Inn last year. I was very impressed with the property. The shuttles to and from Loon are very convenient, although that bus did seem to run less frequent than the other shuttles. The fireplace is nice, however it is a gas fireplace that you turn on with a switch! A bit fake, but still a nice affect. We loved the ammeneties, the unit and the location. We will definately stay again. I highly recommend staying here.
There you go MegGG, some one that actually stayed there can vouch for this Nordic Inn!
I know that with us we love our gas fireplace set up because it%26#39;s cleaner than a real log fireplace, you know what I mean? MUCH cleaner looking and to take care of it? It%26#39;s by far less of a headache! If you have the time to cut the wood, stack it and clean out a fireplace that%26#39;s all well and good for couples that want to do that. A lot of us aren%26#39;t blessed that way or don%26#39;t have that type of luxury and also more importantly don%26#39;t want to deal with the dirt that%26#39;s left behind with a real fireplace and trust me, with me, we used to have the real thing in our other house and it was a pain in the neck to clean the ceilings and walls every time you turned around, that fireplace was the floor to ceiling rock fireplaces and they got SO filthy after you used them! What a difference when you have a gas fireplace!!! It%26#39;s great, what a change it is and SO convenient to use!
I%26#39;m quite sure staying at an Inn up in the White Mountains the owners for insurance purposes would absolutely rather have the gas log set up any day over a real fireplace! They%26#39;d have to be even MORE careful then a private owner of a residence would I%26#39;m sure when it comes to a fireplace and using it!
It looks like the Nordic Inn won in this discussion now doesn%26#39;t it?!!
Have a great day!
