Traveling with Toddler to NH

Does anyone have any suggestions on whether or not bringing a toddler (2.5 years old)to see the sites of the North Conway, NH area would be a good idea? If so, what would you recommend on doing? Or, should I wait until he is older?

Traveling with Toddler to NH

Hi FamilyTripPlanner22,

It looks like he can get in to all the attractions up there FREE when they%26#39;re under 3, so bring him! There%26#39;s a lot to do and a lot to explore. You can start by checking out these sites to see what you want to do first!

Also, there is the beautiful Schouler Park right in North Conway Village. Right there on Rt 16 amongst all the cool shops/cafes/restaurants. Grab lunch to go, a nice cup of joe at the Met Cafe, soak up the views of the Moat Mtns, and watch your toddler run around the expansive grassy field or play on the huge modern playground.

Absolutely! Your toddler could have a great time. We%26#39;ve been bringing our two sons to the White Mountains since they were born.

Sounds like your little one might be a good age for Storyland.

Don%26#39;t forget the natural attractions in the area. If your up to lugging a 2 1/2 year old, a backpack style carrier can open up a lot of options for you. The Appalachian Mountain Club in Pinkham Notch is a wealth of information on day hikes in the area.

We took our boys canoeing on the Saco as soon as they could fit into PFDs. The Saco has some gentle lazy sections no more than knee deep. Great fun in the warmer months.

What time of year are you planning to visit?

Thank-you all for your advice.

Our 2 vacation times with work and everything are the week of July 4th and/or Labor Day weekend. Probably the 2 worst times to do a vacation, huh?

If you could lengthen that Labor Day weekend past Monday (When everyone else goes home) you might get a chance to enjoy some less crowded roads on you trip south (those tolbooths can back up something wicked at the end of a long weekend!)

Also, there are considerablyless biting insects come September. Days are stillwarm, but night are cool (50s, sometimes 40%26#39;s depending on your elevation) so pack some layers :Windbreaker, fleece, sweaters, hats gloves(lightweight), and you%26#39;ll be more comfortable.

With a cool night, you might eve get a sneak peek of fall foliage as an isolated branch or two begin their early display.
