Foliage this weekend

I was going to go up to view foliage this weekend, but the reports say it still hasn%26#39;t changed much color. Is it worth going to the conway area for a couple of days with foliage in mind?

Foliage this weekend

This site is really good....

http://foliage.visitnh.gov/index-flash.html

You drag the leaf above the dates. It shows you the areas of the state that are good for the ';leaf-peepers';. Check it out....as a suggestion. I think next weekend might be better, the leaves are just starting at the top right now....give it another week for the Conway area if I were you. I could be wrong, don%26#39;t quote me I%26#39;m on the Seacoast and we%26#39;re still waiting ourselves down here! Check this site out...it really gives you a rough idea any way.....

Foliage this weekend

That site just gives averages. I went to foliagenetwork.com and it shows it to be at low color. This weekend is the only time I%26#39;m going to be able to take a weekend trip from Boston. I was thinking if the trees aren%26#39;t gonna be changing much color to just go to Cooperstown instead for some baseball.

The Conway area is worth it anytime. The mountins are beautiful, and while we may be a week away from peak, it%26#39;s not as if Mother Nature waits for a particular date and then flips a switch! Foliage is a gradual, fludi process that works its way down fron the high northern mountains to the coast and southern areas. It%26#39;s affected by temperatures and moisture as well. Heck, a good frost could jump start the whole thing - but the entire process has its merits. I%26#39;ve never understood the obssesion with ';peak';.

You may find that just the tips of a few trees have taken on a reddish tinge, and the turn a corner and find a maple tree in a low lying area that has burst into fiery color.

If the color in Conway seems a little slow, take a drive up though the notches and check out the progress there. Elevation can bring on some rapid changes. Even with some added distance to find color, it%26#39;s still a whole lot closer than Cooperstown.
