I am looking for a quiet campsite (tent) to take the young kids to. Also, I would like to take them on the back of our bicylces so a campsite in a location where you can cycle on quiet roads would be great. Not sure if this should be on K%26#39;magus highway, somewhere off 302, around Waterville valley or anywhere else in the region. Finally, if the campsite could be on or near a river/swimhole that would make it perfect. Trip date Sept. Thanks

Try Russell Pond, go to www.campsnh.com. This is near Waterville, has a swimming pond, and should offer some safe biking opportunites. The campsites along the Kanc would limit your biking somewhat as they lead right onto the Kanc. Probably not optimum with little ones on board, the road has very little shoulder in most spots.
Another option might be Lafayette Campgrounds in Franconia Notch State Park. There are bike paths in Farnconia Notch.
Happy camping!

You may want to consider Lafayette campground in Franconia Notch. Very, Very Pretty location. It sits along the river and is centrally located on the Franconia Notch Bike path. This bike path is paved and is only open to foot traffic and bicycles. I would highly recommend this bike path with young children. You can ride up to the basin, Profile and Echo lakes and Cannon Mountain where you could take a nice tram ride to the top. To the south you can ride to the Flume. The Bike path does get a bit hilly, but if you are in good shape you shouldn%26#39;t have a problem.
