We%26#39;ll be vacationing in the White Mountains in a few weeks. Any suggestions (other than Storyland) for a toddler, 15 months? We like canoeing, but obviously that%26#39;s out. Something fun, not cheesy, where he can explore and burn off some energy?
thanks.

If you really love canoeing, think about the Saco River. We had our little ones in the canoe on the Saco at 12 months. One recommendation. cloth diapers for the trip. The disposables just about explode when their really wet. Life jackets a must, of course. The wonderful thing about the Saco is that even if the worst happens and you take a dump, just stand up in the knee high water and wade to shore.
We would pile up the bottom of the canoe with square flotation cushions, and the kids would nap away. They loved the gentle current and the bird life. They are now both hulking 6%26#39; tall men in their twenties, so obviously they survived. Water tends to be warmer that the icy moutain streams too.
If you would be interested in a short hike that is toddler friendly there%26#39;s Diana%26#39;s Bath on westside road in N. Conway it is a easy well mantained wide trail that leads to a spectacular spot on the river, we have been bringing my son there since he was a year old.
All of the attractions mentioned in the earlier posts can be linked to through the White Mountain Attractions website...I%26#39;d also add Whale%26#39;s Tale%26#39;s Water Park...with a nice toddler pool for the kiddo and the parents can share the caretaking while one rides the slides...worked great in my family...
