Know of any pet friendly places with good XCntry skiing nearby...doesn%26#39;t need to be North Conway. Closer to Boston the better.
Pet-friendly accommodations with good XCntry skiing
Jackson house B%26amp;B also excepts pets our family has stayed there the last four times we have gone to enjoy the Jackson Xcountry trail system. We have always found it to be immaculately clean, very comfortable, and their breakfast is awesome, their web site is jacksonhousenh.com. PS. Stay away from the Dana Place we stayed there once and after paying about twice as much as we ever have at J.H. My 8 year-old son hit the nail on the head when he said they named their pet room the treehouse because, it smelled like monkeys live there.

As to the last reply with regards to the Dana Place. That lady is nuts. We have stayed at the inn for years and found it perfect. Dinning rooms, pub, indoor pool and jacuzzi. The DP is a historic country inn resort. Great Location. If you like an old little B%26amp;B, yes the Jackson House may due.
In response to bostonbob锟斤拷锟絪 last post. No I am not nuts. Granted Jackson House is smaller and the Dana Place is more resort like and one of the reasons we chose to stay there in the first place was the nice indoor pool, and a nice dining room. But because we were traveling with our dog we had to stay in the 锟斤拷锟絋ree House锟斤拷锟?and did not have an opportunity to see or stay in any of the rooms in main inn. For all we know they could be great, and we admit others who have stayed there may have had a completely different experience from ours. There is a huge difference in a place being old yet very well maintained as we have always found to be the case with Jackson House verses the Dana Place锟斤拷锟絪 锟斤拷锟絋ree house锟斤拷锟?which was old and worn out and had a very strong musty smell. In closing whenever possible we always try and take our dog with us when we travel, and can truly appreciate a hotel or inn that does not use the fact that it is pet friendly as an excuse to let their rooms go to the dogs.
Regarding the Dana Place Inn, my family has been going there for years, and have noticed the quality drop every time. The Musty smell, the the charges that they assumed you knew about. One time the lobby was so filled with smoke from the employees it was intolerable. And while the food is good for breakfast, the dinner menu seems to be the same year after year! We swore off the DPI, but gave it a second chance, which we regretted!
We stayed at the Dana Place last Christmas (2004) with another couple who brought their dog. We stayed in the wing by the pool, and they stayed upstairs from us. This was our 3rd visit to the Inn, and our last. I didn%26#39;t care for it the second time around, but went for the 3rd because of the dog. The room was mediocre, the jacuzzi had so much chlorine in it, people couldn%26#39;t even enter the pool room. Even after many complaints to the desk, it was never corrected. It burned our throats just walking through the door. Needless to say, we never swam in the pool, or sat in the jacuzzi. The staff this last time around seemed annoyed at everyone. A group of guests who thought they owned the place, stayed up late every night in the common room, drinking and being obnoxiously loud. Their kids took over all the seating areas and the TV...couldn%26#39;t even catch up on the news. They obviously don%26#39;t enfource their 10:00 quiet time. The whole place needs updating. The rug in our room was ';squishy'; and I didn%26#39;t dare go barefoot. The wallpaper was peeling, and the bed was not comfortable at all. Even though there is a ';rule'; about leaving your dogs unattended in the room, the couple next door to us didn%26#39;t seem to care. Those dogs yapped all day, and nobody seemed to do anything about it. And, yes, the ';fee and tax'; you to death.
The only good thing about this place is the restaurant.
We just got back from a 3 day stay at The Dana Place and had a good stay. Yes, we did bring our 2 setters, and yes the inn had a room for us. The inn has a wonderful setting, great food and a nice and caring staff. We travel on the east coast and found when you bring your dogs, you are not going to get the deluxe rooms. Think about it. If you didn%26#39;t have a dog and wanted to travel and buy the best they have, would you have wanted a dog in it a night before. Give me a brake, some people just don%26#39;t get it.
i am looking for a place to stay with my teas cup puddle in north conway we do not ski so that is not an issue. i am going this weekend jan. 22. 2005 thanks
Here are a few places I know of around North Conway that take dogs: The Notchland Inn takes dogs in their cabins, as does the Bartlett Inn. The Lazy Dog Inn allows dogs in the main inn. These are leads more than reviews, as I haven%26#39;t stayed overnight in them. As for Notchland Inn, it is a gorgeous place with great owners. It%26#39;s been years since I%26#39;ve been at the Bartlett Inn and I know that the new owners have been re-doing the cabins and I know they are nice people. Hope this helps you...
Dear XCSKIMAN
Some people DO get it...maybe you don%26#39;t and maybe you should re-read the message you replied to. My statement stands. I%26#39;m surprised this place is still in business. We are very open-minded people, we love to camp and don%26#39;t mind ';putting up'; with certain situations, but the attitude of the staff and the money we paid to stay here didn%26#39;t gel. Would not recommend to anyone. Too bad, as it has so much potential. The restaurant and dinner alone should hold a reputation, but it%26#39;s not enough. Caring for the client is everything, and they don%26#39;t have it. Shame.
