New Hampshire Foliage Train and Foliage Tour

I will be in Dover, NH the first week in October for business and want to take a couple of extra days to ';leaf peep';. It looks like the Church Landing at the Inns at Mill Falls is a nice hotel. Would the Meredith area near the lake have good foliage? I was also wondering about the Foliage Train that departs from Meredith and goes up to Livermore

Falls. Or would you suggest another area out of Dover that would be better for foliage and also have a first class hotel/B%26amp;B or resort?

The first week in Oct is a great time to view the foliage. Drive north on rte 16 into the White Mtns and stay in Jackson. it%26#39;s a small NE village off the main highway and through a covered bridge. A few places to consider - Snowflake Inn, Carter Notch Inn or the Inn at Jackson but they book quickly and they don%26#39;t have many rooms. There is a train run from North Conway that goes through the mountains with stunning views. Other routes are 16 to Pinkham Notch to Mt Washington. Rte 112 Kanc Highway and 302 to the Mt Washington Hotel. All are different and you won%26#39;t be disappointed. Driving time from Dover to Jackson about 2 hrs depending on leaf peepers.

Foliage should be excellent during the first week of October.

The previous poster%26#39;s suggestions are very good, Jackson is a beautiful little town. Almost any route you take will give you some spectacular leaf peeping. If you are traveling mid-week, the traffice shouldn%26#39;t be bad at all.

If you get a chance to include the Kancamagus Highway in your loop do so. Great views, and some considerable elevation. From Meredith, hop back on Rte 93 North to Lincoln and pick up the ';Kanc'; from there.
