My wife and I are leaving for a week trip to NH on 8/14. I%26#39;d appreciate any last minute suggestions from ';locals'; on attractions, towns, and restaurants not to be missed. Our B%26amp;B%26#39;s are located in Jackson, Wolfesboro, and Portsmouth. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

In Portsmouth, you have to go to the Strawberry Banke area. You are also not too far from Kittery, Maine or from the sea from there. Wolfeboro is on Lake Winnepausaukie. You are on the quiet side of the lake. If you are into the lakes, there is the mount washington which will give you a tour of the entire lake. There are a lot of quaint shops in Wolfeboro as well as a lot of nice restaurants in Wolfeboro. Meredith, NH is not a far drive from there where you can visit some of their attractions as well.

From Jackson visit Mt Washington, either drive up the auto road or go up 302 to the cog railway. The shops in North Conway can be alot of fun, and the outlet stores in Conway. There is a nice little golf course if you are a golfer. Take a ride over the Kancamagus Highway from Conway to Lincoln, very scenic highway.
On the 4th Aug. 2005 we visited New Hampshire. It is a beautiful place, many mountains. I took the cog rail to the top of the mountain and find it very boring. It cost 50 U.S. per person and the train took 11/2 to get up to the top. It is cheaper to drive up it cost 20 U.S. At the attitash Mountain area there are many activities such as gondola rides, Water Falls and Slides. If you like nature and scenic drives this is the place to be.
If you like to hike, give Mt. Washington a shot! Hiking to the base of Tuckerman%26#39;s Ravine is a great hike if you cant get up to the summit. For an easy hike, head up Hurrican Mtn. Road in N. Conway. At the top of the hill is a parking lot on your right. Park here and hike up to the top of Black Cap. The views of the valley are wonderful. Then head over the the other side of the valley and drive up to the top of Cathederal Ledge....if you can stand it.
If you have a couple of days in Portsmouth, you might want to take a boat to the Isles of Shoals.
Great seafood at either Warren%26#39;s in Kittery or Newicks on Dover Point.
Near Jackson, you may want to explore The Flume and Lost River as examples of ice age rock formations. And the Kancamangus Pass is a must.
