Hockey Trip

Am planning a trip to see Monarchs sometime in March. Any information about which airport to use, hotel to stay with transportation to/from airport and in close walking proximity to arena. Also, may go on to NY City for 1 or 2 days, what would be best way to travel to NY?

If you can, fly into Manchester airport. It%26#39;s a convenient and easily negotiated small airport-and growing all the time.. Flights ending here are usually cheaper than flights into Logan in Boston.

The Center of New Hampshire Holiday Inn in Manchester is part of the convention complex, and close to the arena.

You might consider flying into NY, especially if you can arrange a flight from Manchester. If you drive, plan on 5-6 hours. I%26#39;m sure there are buses to NY, but most routes will take you through Boston - and it could be a very long ride.

Hello Isfannin,

You can fly in to Manchester International Airport in New Hampshire. It%26#39;s got a great website for the schedules and also you can fly to New York from there as well, you wouldn%26#39;t have to drive all the way in to Boston. You%26#39;ll find it%26#39;s going to be very convenient for you this way.

The Manchester Monarchs hockey team play at the Verizon Wireless Arena which is right in Manchester at 555 Elm St., you can check out tickets and schedules at

www.verizonwirelessarena.com

Not too far from the Arena on Elm St is a Radisson Hotel at 700 Elm St. if you want to call them to get it straightened out at 603 625-1000.

Go to www.nhliving.com then Merrimack Valley for restaurant suggestions.

Piccolo Italia Restarante @ 827 Elm St., Manchester, NH isn%26#39;t too far from the Arena on Elm St. Check it out it%26#39;s very good, we%26#39;ve gone there several times and it%26#39;s quite good.

Enjoy!

I agree w/the rest - use Manchester Airport (MHT is the code). I just flew in and out of there for the first time and it was nice and easy. The only hotel that is SUPER close to everything (nightlife on Elm Street %26amp; The Verizon Center) is the Radisson - literally right across the street from the Verizon. All of the other hotels in the area, while less costly, will be a very short cab ride for you. Whatever hotel you choose will probably offer transfers to and from the airport (I would think).

There are a lot of great places to eat in Manchester and lots of great nightlife (The Black Brimmer for great live cover bands, The Rover for a small Irish place, a martini bar ((not my taste)). For good eats try Thousand Crane for Sushi or La Carretta (sp?) in Manchester on the Hooksett line for great Mexican food. Piccola%26#39;s is OK in my book, you pay for the ambience (again sp??) and the food is good but not worth what you pay (again, my opinion) - it%26#39;s a good ';date'; place though.

You could easily fly to NYC from Manch too.

Good luck!
