Hi, can anyone suggest a scenic hike for this weekend along Crawford Notch? One that would be about 2-3 hours in total?
Fall HikingI%26#39;ve never hiked around Crawford Notch, and know nothing about your ability, but I%26#39;ve read many times about the not too difficult hike to Mt. Willey, which apparently affords spectacular views across the notch.
Fall HikingThe hike up to Aruthuse Flls is always interesting. Elevation gain is minor but the falls are spectacular and shou be running well with all the rain and the early snow we%26#39;ve had up here.
If you want some elevation gain, and views, the hike up to Mt. Willard is easily reached for spectacular views down the notch.
Another favorite of ours is the hike to Zealand Falls, and the AMC Hut there. The falls are beautiful and feel very remote. Also, it%26#39;s a nice chance to reach one of the more accessible huts in the AMC system. also a good spot for lumch.
You shop plan a atop at the Appalachian Mountain Clubs Crawford Notch facility for information and hisory on this fascinating area. The AMC publishes maps and guides, and they are a great source for info.
Have fun!
