Weekend getaway,Christmas present for kids - suggestions?

We%26#39;re looking to get our kids, who live on Maine coastline a nice weekend getaway as a Christmas present this year. Looking for place that has cross-country skiing trails and other winter outdoor activities partnered with a nice place to stay plus good options for dining. A lot to ask but wonder if anyone has any suggestions for a place like that in New Hampshire.

The Christmas Farm Inn is in Jackson and probably the best place for cross country skiiing with kids. The Nestlenook Farm Inn is another place you can use the facilities, such as the skating rink at the Nestlenook if you%26#39;re staying at the Christmas Farm Inn according to the site. Either place is perfect for families.

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get other suggestions here as well, but this will get you started any way.

The White Mountains would be a great get away for them. It%26#39;s got a lot to do there, especially in the winter months, they%26#39;ll be so busy, they won%26#39;t know what to do next! Which%26#39;ll be good for them AND you!

Anywhere in the north conway, jackson area is nice. Try luxurymountaingetaways.com. Townhouse rentals we have been staying at since 1989. A great place! They also own the Nestlenook farm and Inn. Beautiful country inn type place with great ice skating. Outlet shopping also nearby. Great restaurants too.

Jackson, NH is a mecca for cross country skiers, probably the best the East has to offer. Lots of choices of inns or B%26amp;Bs. The Wentworth Inn is very nice, and close to the village center. There%26#39;s a great website at jacksonnh.com that lists all the lodging in the area.

Hi singinggirl, I%26#39;m sure all the places in the north country would be wonderful. However, to stay away from the crowds try the Back Side Inn in the Sunapee NH area, actually located in Goshen NH. It is a wonderful little inn with one of the best Sunday brunches you will find anywhere. Just around the corner from Sunapee ski area. We moved to Wells ME a few years ago from NH but used to go there frequently from the Keene NH area. This place is only a couple of hours from southern Maine and lovely backroads to Sunapee. The Inn at Danbury is known for their German Cuisine if you are a foodie. Their own kids help out with breakfast and dinner it is a very friendly atmosphere and close to Ragged Mountain Resort, down hill skiing and close to cross country skiing in New London. Enjoy
