I got really lucky and my boss gave me the week of Christmas off. So, I am making some very late plans to travel over the holiday. I am going with my girlfriend to see her parents who live in Exeter, NH. We will be staying in a hotel part of time, but I need some suggestions for where to stay. We were thinking of staying in Hampton, Hampton Beach or Portsmouth. Please Help!!!!

Place to stay near Exeter NH
Donah,
Thanks for the info. I looked into the Bestwestern in Seabrook, but I read some bad reviews about it on this website. Thave had good luck using the advise I get on this website. So, I am looking for some other place to stay.
I%26#39;d suggest up the street in Portsmouth/Newington. About a 15-20 minute ride to Exeter. All of the national chain hotels/motels are in the area of the Portsmouth traffic circle and around the Newington Mall. Plus, you%26#39;ve got the great downtown Portsmouth and its restaurants/cafes/shops just a few minutes away.
Hi Postalgrrl,
Definitely cross off the Bestwestern okay? It%26#39;s not anything to write home about. There are quite a lot of B%26amp;B%26#39;s to stay at, but I see that you want a hotel type place to stay. There%26#39;s one that was recently renovated in Portsmouth that I know you%26#39;d really like a lot. It%26#39;s on Rte 1 in Portsmouth which is very convenient for the ride over to Exeter, only about 15 minutes away, it%26#39;s nothing to get to and from. This Inn was recently renovated and the rooms are really really nice now! They have an indoor pool with a mountain type waterfall hot tub and a fireplace that%26#39;s incredible. It%26#39;s called:
The Wrens Nest Village Inn and if you go in to www.wrensnestinn.com you can check it out, it starts at $99 a night, which isn%26#39;t too bad.
If you both get the chance? Absolutely have dinner at their restaurant it%26#39;s one of the top ones on the seascoast and it%26#39;s right in this Inn! It%26#39;s AWESOME there and I%26#39;m not kidding you, you will LOVE it there. It%26#39;s called %26#39;Chestnuts At The Nest%26#39; so make reservations some night for dinner here, you%26#39;ll really enjoy it, I guarantee it!
Hope this helps!
There%26#39;s a B%26amp;B right in Exeter as well, I don%26#39;t know how good it is, or if you can get reservations but you never know, all the students at Phillips Exeter Academy will be going home for the Holidays, so I would think you%26#39;d be able to get reservations here maybe? I%26#39;ve only driven by it numerous times and I%26#39;ve heard that it%26#39;s very nice. If you wanted to stay at a B%26amp;B, it%26#39;s called
The Inn By The Bandstand it says online that:
It is steeped in history and nestled in downtown Exeter, New Hampshire, the accomodations are spacious, the ambience is historic and elegant, and the atmosphere is relaxed.
In total the Inn has nine rooms, including three suites. Seven of the rooms have working fireplaces and all have private baths.

Thanks for the info. The Wrens Nest Inn does not have rooms available for the nights we need. I was hoping to stay a little closer than than Portsmouth. But, if we stay in Portsmouth, I was thinking about The Port Inn. Does anyone know about this hotel? I see that it gets great reviews on this website. Can anyone suggest a place to stay in Hampton or Hampton Beach?? I thought it might be fun to stay at the beach for Christmas.
Hi Postalgrrl,
The Port Inn is impeccably clean and it%26#39;s got great reviews right here on TA. I%26#39;ve driven by it a lot of times and the property is kept up really really nice all the time. Definitely stay here if you can get a reservation. It%26#39;s also in a really good location, it%26#39;s right near the Portsmouth traffic rotary where you can either head for Maine at one end, Boston another way heading south or Portsmouth heading north or the surrounding towns and cities in the Seacoast region. Also for getting over to Exeter, it%26#39;s not a bad drive from here and it%26#39;s also not too far from the neat shops and restaurants right in Portsmouth.
Hampton Beach is basically closed up for the season. The Ashworth By The Sea is open year round though. Give them a call if you want reservations here. It%26#39;s online and you can check out the rates and rooms. I%26#39;ve seen the rooms they have though, they%26#39;re very very small, that%26#39;s the only thing I would say about this Hotel other than that, they%26#39;re just fine! The Restaurant and Lounge/Pub is very very good all year round.
Here%26#39;s the information on it.

Postalgrrl,
I just thought of all the places right in the town of Hampton . There%26#39;s one that you should see about...Lamie%26#39;s Inn %26amp; Tavern it averages $113 a night. It%26#39;s located at 490 Lafayette Rd., right at the corner of Hampton Rd., that brings you right over to Exeter in no time.
The Hampton Village Resort located at 660 Lafayette Rd. in Hampton has over 40 rooms and it%26#39;s online here saying it averages $64 a night.
Check these out too to see what you think....
Good luck!
Postalgrrl,
You definitely owe it to yourself to try the new hotel in Durham called The Hotel New Hampshire; based on the John Irving novel with the same name.
The amenities include complimentary full continental breakfast, wine and beer after 5:30 PM. Pluse the hotel is brand new. There%26#39;s rooms that haven%26#39;t been slept in. You have flat screen TVs, cable, and high speed internet. - you can%26#39;t beat it for the rate, 89.00 a night. All the students will be gone home too! The local restaurants and clubs will not be full of hardheads.

Good morning!
Thanks for telling us about this hotel. I wasn%26#39;t sure whether it was open yet. It%26#39;s good to see that it is! I just checked it online, it looks GREAT! What a wonderful spot for a hotel to be in!
Postalgrrl the drive from Durham would be a piece of cake to Exeter. You%26#39;d be there in no time. When you check this site out, it%26#39;ll list all the attractions you%26#39;ll be near. It%26#39;s a really good location, check it out where it%26#39;s brand new!
