Looking for reasonable or (any) lodging in/around the Lakes

Good morning KotULQQKin,

What about the Center Harbor Inn on Lake Winnipesaukee? Every time we drive by it, I always want to stay there some day!

This Inn has a beach right outside their door, it%26#39;s in a really good location to get to the many shops and restaurants right around Center Harbor, and it%26#39;s right on the water. The rates aren%26#39;t bad to stay there a night either. I don%26#39;t know how it would be this time of year though, you%26#39;d have to call them to see....603 253-4347. Here%26#39;s their site to check it out:

www.centerharborinn.com

Another possibility and it was always so convenient to get to different places around the Lake. We stayed here a few times when my nieces were young. It%26#39;s ';B%26#39;Mae%26#39;s Resort Inn'; in Gilford. They have 2 pools and Patrick%26#39;s Pub for lunch or dinner is right across the street. They%26#39;re reasonable to stay here a night too. You can check it out here or give them a call to see if they have anything available for you:

Good luck!

Looking for reasonable or (any) lodging in/around the Lakes

B%26#39;Mae%26#39;s Resort has a ';Managers special'; deal going on right now...it looks like a really good one too. Just call them and ask for the ';Managers Special'; that they have on their site advertised right now. It%26#39;s probably a good idea to call them as soon as you can if you do decide to stay here....

  • Story land trip

    Hi,

We are planning a trip to StoryLand with our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter and her parents. My son in law wants to go fishing and camping during the trip. Does anyone have a suggestion for a nearby family friendly campgroung? Although we are from Rhode Island, we have only been to the White Mountain area one time and that was 27 years ago on our Honeymoon!

    Thank you.

    Story land trip

There are alot of campgrounds on the Kancamagus Highway, which runs from I-93 to Conway. I haven%26#39;t stayed at any, but I wanted to mention to you, if you like Storyland, also try Santa%26#39;s Village, in Jefferson. Its perfect for kids under 8, and it is absolutely beautiful! My 5-yr-old daughter loved it more than Storyland! Have fun!

    Story land trip

The lantern inn in Jefferson,nh is across the street from Santas Village and has a campground which has tent camping and trailer camping. You can even rent a camper there. Two awsome pools Laundry and gameroom. Nighttime activities for kids, campfires everynight, bedtime stories right in your own rooms. We are from RI and we have been going to North Conway and Jefferson for about 9 years. We do not go to Storyland anymore. Too many people, kids have more fun and we find it more relaxing and enjoyable at Santas Village. More shade, they%26#39;ve been really updating quite abit. Beautiful setting. There is a Mc Donalds a little further dowm the road. There is a country store a little before SV that sells pizza, sandwiches, all kinds of groceries, camping items etc. We love this trip. We are already mourning the fact that our kids willnot want to go here for much longer. WE...are going to miss it.

try the glen ellis family campground 603-383-4567 They are only a mile from Storyland

    Aegean Motel at Hampton Beach

Has anyone stays at the Aegean motel on ocean Blvd. before? If you do please let me know how the place was?

    Aegean Motel at Hampton Beach

The Aegean Motel at Hampton Beach was always very clean and very reasonable a night to stay there. It%26#39;s located at 345 Ocean Blvd. 926-4600. I have relatives that stayed there every summer for the longest time and never had any problem whatsoever. In fact, this Motel along with one other, The Marguerite'; are the ONLY ones that my family and I will ever highly recommend for people staying over at that beach! We saw what the rooms and staff were like there many times and they certainly seem to be very professional and just fine with their guests.

The Aegean Motel is located right across from the beach and in a perfect spot for the fireworks every week! It%26#39;s just past the old Tastee Tower Pizza from Highland Avenue and ';the Lady'; statue right at the beach, which is actually the Marine Memorial but every one calls it ';The Lady';.

The Aegean Motel is in a much better location than any of the Ashworth Ave. Motels AND (it always was a better area all through the years!)

    Have Fun!

    Aegean Motel at Hampton Beach

We stayed there a few years back and it was horrible. Bugs in the room. a ridiculous stand up shower which howled when you turned it on, the most uncomfortable bed I ever slept in. New owners were going to rehab it so it might be better. Best things location and great front porch. Almost slept there instead of room.

So sorry to hear of your terrible experience with the Aegean Motel, I was very surprised to see that, I know my cousins never had that type of problem there any time they stayed there through the years. The ';Tastee Tower Pizza building was torn down completely this past winter which was located right near it and was probably where the ';culprits'; were coming from because it used to be an okay building but in the last several years after it was sold, the pizza tower got pretty shabby and gross looking for some reason. We knew the original owner and he was the nicest guy and kept it so nice and the pizzas used to be GREAT there before, that%26#39;s the pizza tower that I miss! Although I know some people that loved it there in the last few years with their kids for the Kareoke nights and I know for a fact that they miss the place this year a lot and couldn%26#39;t believe it was torn down! Meanwhile, the rest of us are so glad something was finally done about it! It looks SO much better when you drive by it now! Thanks again for your honesty just the same, my cousins kids are a little older now and won%26#39;t go anywhere with them, so those days are over for them and they won%26#39;t be needing any of those motels at the beach any time soon!

Deep Sea Fishing Around Rye / Portsmouth

I will be spending a week at a cottage on Rye Beach next month. I%26#39;m interested in going out on a half-day fishing trip. I%26#39;ve seen that quite a few places have such trips for fairly reasonable prices. Anyone know of any that are especially good / especially bad? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Deep Sea Fishing Around Rye / Portsmouth

    Hi Ride Guy!

The Atlantic Fleet that leaves out of Rye Harbor is one of the best! The boat is large, stable and comfortable! It%26#39;s a larger boat, not a private charter situation......

    I hope that helps!

Deep Sea Fishing Around Rye / Portsmouth

They are actually one of the companies I had found on the web. Thanks for the reccommendation!

You%26#39;re VERY welcome! Post here how it goes!

Have fun and I hope you catch the big one!!!

Inn at Ellis River or Inn at Thorn Hill

My husband and I are planning a trip to the White mountains for a few days. Can anyone give advice on the Inn at Ellis River and/or the Inn at Thorn Hill in Jackson. If you feel there is a better place in the Jackson area feel free to share. Thank you!

Inn at Ellis River or Inn at Thorn Hill

Haven%26#39;t personally stayed at either but I have heard lots of good comments about The Inn at Thorn Hill.

Inn at Ellis River or Inn at Thorn Hill

Jackson chamber of commerce classifies Inn at Ellis as a country inn. It is located just outside the village across rt 16 nestled on the river. people who stay seem to enjoy it. Thorn Hill is not a member of c of c ????? but is more like a upscale small hotel offering alot of amenities. it is located just off main st near the covered bridge. both are nice places to stay but different. if you%26#39;re a B %26amp; B type you might want to consider the Carter Notch Inn. It gets great reviews. Also the Jackson - Conway area has a ton of great places to eat. Enjoy!

The Inn at Thorn Hill is simply amazing! Lovely, comfortable guest rooms, a beautiful parlor (especially beautiful at Christmas time), a small pub for pre -dinner drinks, appetizers or peraps a game of checkers and the food is to die for! The view from the front porch is breathtaking.

Thank you for your responses. We did end up at The Thorn Hill Inn and loved it!! The rooms, staff, spa, and food were fantastic. We highly recommend staying there.

The Inn at Ellis River is a cozy, friendly place to stay.

All the rooms are unique. Please visit the website at

www.innatellisriver.com They have a wonderful package: Waterfall Adventure, Midsummer Night%26#39;s Dream.....

All the rates include a full breakfast and afternoon refreshments.

This is the place to stay.

    Courtyard walk to downtown?

It looks like the Courtyard hotel is a mile or so from downtown, which isn%26#39;t far but is it walkable.

    Thanks

    Courtyard walk to downtown?

Sure. It%26#39;s not that far from downtown. It%26#39;s on a fairly busy road though, as you%26#39;ll have to walk past the entrance and exits to Route 95. Stay on the side of the road closest to the harbor and you%26#39;ll be fine.
