I am considering moving our family from the southwest back to New England. I am not familiar with the small towns/cities of Southern Vermont or New Hampshire, having grown up in southern Connecticut, so I%26#39;m looking for feedback on good places to raise a family--great schools, lots of outdoor rec., amenities--and a place that has an old New England ';feel'; to it. Any suggestions?
We love mountains and beaches equally, but need to stay in affordable housing (up to 300,000).
any help would be great.

Hello Drew, If you love mountains and beaches then the Seacoast of New Hampshire is the place for you to raise your kids. You need to stay in affordable housing up to $300,000? Then this is the place! I%26#39;m looking at 2 real estate books right this minute and there are quite a few really nice homes in Exeter, NH for 300 and under, Dover Point Rd., in Dover, NH is another area that%26#39;s quite nice as well as Portsmouth, NH, Stratham or Newmarket also Durham where the University of New Hampshire is are all pretty nice places. They%26#39;re all very convenient to head north for the mountains because the highway is right within a few miles in any of these towns for 101 and 95, Boston is within an hour or so south; Manchester airport is where a lot of seacoast people head out now, instead of driving down to Boston. It%26#39;s of course getting expensive to live here like every where else, but if you do your homework you%26#39;ll find what you%26#39;re looking for. Always remember there%26#39;s a house for everyone you just have to find it, that%26#39;s all! My nieces %26amp; nephews grew up on the Seacoast and love it; they%26#39;re all really good kids in fact. I can see they%26#39;re very well adjusted and quite happy living here because of all there friends they%26#39;ve met growing up here and the things to do for them is topshelf. If you can tell I don%26#39;t have kids myself but I have really good ';role models'; coming from a huge family to observe all of this child rearing! Let me give you the websites then you can check around the seacoast for yourself. Exeter is a really nice old New England town, the famous Philips Exeter Academy is in town. The campus is absolutely beautiful. The famous Exeter Inn is right in the town not too far from the Academy. The center of town has really nice shops and very good restaurants, it%26#39;s very quaint and old time New England in the center of town! This should help you get started. I%26#39;m looking at different property around the seacoast and you can still get something under 3. It%26#39;s not impossible! I hope you find what you%26#39;re looking for! GOOD LUCK

I%26#39;m looking at one right now that%26#39;s in Exeter that looks really nice. I can%26#39;t speak for the school systems where I don%26#39;t have kids but I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll be talking to people with kids and they can tell you all about the different schools. My nieces and nephews went to parochial schools all their lives, they%26#39;re in college now. They played SOCCER, BASKETBALL and SOFTBALL all through the years on the different teams. The Indoor Soccer Arena in Hampton is where the kids all play as well as the adults. There%26#39;s a lot of sports minded people on the seacoast and to me? In my opinion? Where I don%26#39;t have kids? I think that%26#39;s the key with them all, it really is! You can really really tell they%26#39;re all so focused %26amp; driven; every one of them! Again, GOOD LUCK to you and your family with your new venture!
