Continuing on a theme here: does anyone care to recommend a brewery or brewpub or two. I have read about several in Portsmouth and New London- am curious to hear some feedback from folks who have visited there or other areas.
NH breweries
Here%26#39;s a listing. Flying Goose is by far my favorite for beer quality. Redhook is my favortie based on location and atmoshphere.

Martha%26#39;s Exchange (Nashua, NH) is also missing from the list of members.
If you%26#39;re heading to Maine or Vermont, prepare yourself for some tremendous microbrews.

Thanks for responding on both threads. We look forward to checking out a few places that you mentioned. The Flying Goose is definitely on our list. When we get back from our New England jaunt in September, I will write a review of our brewery/winery experiences.
Nice little hobby you have there. If you%26#39;re visiting mid-July you can catch the VT Brewers festival on Lake Champlain. It%26#39;s up in Burlington so it%26#39;s a bit of a drive, but well worth it.
You%26#39;ll be happy with Flying Goose. Don%26#39;t be surprised if they have about 12-14 of their own beers on tap and the food in the pub is very good too, featuring some in-house smoked meats.
Have fun.
err, just read you are traveling in Sept. so nix the Vt beer fest, I guess.
What parts of the area will you be staying in? I%26#39;ll scratch around and see if there%26#39;s any beer/wine related happenings.
Hey, KJFord, I saw you over on the Seattle forum. We were there last May- took in two Mariner games- had a GREAT time. Thanks for the heads up about the VT Beer fest- wouldn%26#39;t that be fun! We do like to check out local brews. )I bet you will do that in Seattle.) Our trip will take us from West Point, NY to Cooperstown to White Mountain Junction, VT down through NH to Ogunquit, Maine then two days in NYC- where we will catch a Yankees game. We%26#39;re Texas Ranger fans so baseball and beer play a large role in our summer/fall activities.
It just so happens that will will be attending the Summer Brewfest on Lake Washington while we are in Seattle. This is my third trip out there and absolutely love the NW.
I assume you mean White RIVER Jct., VT? If you make it up that far, you are pretty close to Long Trail Brewing Co. in Bridgewater Corners, VT. I%26#39;m going to say about 30 minutes northwest of W.R. Jct. I highly recommend them as well. They serve food and of course beer on their deck that overlooks a crystal clear stream. Watch out for the Double bag strong ale. It%26#39;s a real heavy hitter. http://www.longtrail.com/
Let%26#39;s see, Oqunquit. You%26#39;ll be too far south to hit any of the Portland breweries such as, Geary%26#39;s, Gritty McDuff%26#39;s and Sebago Brewing Co. You could check out Shipyard in Kennbunkport (just north of OGT) where Dubbya likes to summer with George and Babs. You%26#39;ll also be close to Portsmouth, which you%26#39;ll likey drive through on I-95 en route to NYC.
Good luck and feel free to e-mail me if you%26#39;d like any more recommendations or more detailed tips. kjford16@msn.com
Oh, and also Seven Barrels brewery is right down I-89 from W.R. Jct., VT in Lebanon, NH.
Well, kjford, you have given us so many good ideas and suggestions that I could see planning a trip up there in the summer JUST to visit beer related destinations! I saw you over on the Maine forum- amazing how paasionate they are about weather and relocation but only two responses about breweries/wineries. You have been a wealth of info!
And quick laugh about the Flying Goose- I look forward to checking out the Texas suasage plate.
allright, I%26#39;ll go chime in on the Maine thread. I did catch some of the back and forth on the relocating thread. In case you haven%26#39;t noticed I could chat beer all day long!
I%26#39;m not sure how ';Texan'; to you that sausage will be but I%26#39;ll bet it%26#39;s good nonetheless.
