Taking a 2 week New England trip early Oct from WA state; I haven%26#39;t travelled much in the past, only other trips being to Rapid City, SD and around the Pacific Northwest. I%26#39;m planning on exploring some historical sites in NH and VT, spending 2 or 3 days, probably on weekdays. Looking for advice re: making motel reservations. Maybe it%26#39;s a pretty busy time of year there at that time? Can%26#39;t wait to get there and see for myself! I like the idea of just finding lodging when I feel like it, but don%26#39;t relish the thought of sleeping in the car or on the ground (could get trampled by a moose or bear-bit)! Thanks in advance for any advice; I%26#39;ll post on VT board as well.
moose and bear?
I%26#39;m like you, and like to wing it when it comes to lodging when I am exploring and don%26#39;t like to be too scheduled. I%26#39;m not so sure that is a good idea this time though!
Depending on where in Vermont and New Hampshire you will be going, you will likely be visiting during peak foliage season. New England is known for it%26#39;s great Fall colors and tourists flock to the area. Many motels will be booked solid well in advance. What might work a little to your advantage is that you may be there mid week. I would not count on that though.
